We’ve always seem to include spritz cookies in our traditional Christmas cookie baking, and I’ve long been a fan of these bite-sized little snacks.  The green Christmas trees are a great, festive addition to a little bag of Christmas cookie treats.

Spritz Cookies

Recipe from Wilton

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 TBSP. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • Food coloring, optional

Note: This recipe probably made about 7 dozen cookies.

Preheat oven to 350ºF.   In bowl, combine flour and baking powder.  In a separate large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.   Add egg, milk, vanilla and almond extract, and mix well to combine.   Slowly add  the flour mixture to butter  mixture; beat until combined.   Separate and color part of the dough if desired. Do not chill.  Fill cookie press with dough and with desired disks, press cookies onto ungreased cookie sheet.  Apply sprinkles or other decorations, if desired.

Bake 10-12 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool 2 minutes on cookie sheet on cooling rack. Remove from sheet and cool completely.
